WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Lux Bus America is currently looking for a Senior Accountant who is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions for Lux Bus America and its sister company Sun Diego Charter.  The senior accountant will be a member of the accounting team and will help prepare and report on financial information.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
  • Obtain information from internal and external sources to record accounting transactions in the sub-ledgers and general ledger for all business services to ensure continuous maintenance of the company's accounting records within Great Plains
  • Oversee accounts payable transactions, ensuring proper coding and approvals for invoices
  • Set up vendors following proper procedures
  • Post accounts payable batches, payments, and approve items entered into bank positive pay
  • Assist in filling required reporting such as IRS and state-required filings (i.e. IFTA, 8849, PUC)
  • Oversee prepaid expenses and deferred rent schedules
  • Assist in managing vehicle fleet listing in various databases
  • Oversee employee credit card expense reports and charges for proper GL coding and approval
  • Record monthly journal entries to account for amortization of prepaid expenses, and month-end accruals for operations expenses
  • Records monthly journal entries to account for parts inventory movements and inventory parts reserve
  • Assists with reconciling the bank accounts in Great Plains and preparing accounts reconciliations for specific balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with fixed assets and inventory verifications
  • Support management in preparing schedules and roll forwards for monthly close activities
  • Provide support to operations managers and assist other accountants as requested by management
  • Assist with the implementation of company initiatives
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly operating forecasts and the annual business plan
  • Ad hoc reporting and projects as determined by management
  • Assist in forecasts of revenue and expenses by service type
  • Provide assistance and data for bid models
  • Consolidate and analyze budgets and income statement forecasts and compare to actual with evaluations of the variances
  • Prepare departmental budgets by reviewing past expenses, organizing them, and interviewing department heads to determine their needs and expected costs for the next year
  • Communicate clearly the trends that have been set and identify potential future costs to department heads
  • Assist in the recording of payroll entries
  • Prepare reports for departments to analyze their cost-effectiveness
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of ADP Workforce Now reporting
  • Work with maintenance to track inventories and costs
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4-6 years of accounting and/or finance experience
